The original flyer has The Jam on the bill, but they were no longer part of the tour.
The Jam left because they thought they should be headlining the show. Paul [Simonon] was constantly taking the piss out of them. We all thought they were a mockery. Their dad [manager John Weller] would come into the dressing room and start bossing everyone around. In the end, he said they wanted more money. But Joe [Strummer] in particular felt they weren't right for the tour.

St Albans City Hall
The Clash were supported by The Jam, Buzzcocks, Subway Sect, and The Slits at St Albans.
The St Albans Town Hall, also known as the Old Town Hall or The Courthouse, is a 19th-century building in St Albans, Hertfordshire, England. It was designed by George Smith and built in 1830 in the Neoclassical style. The building served as the headquarters of St Albans City Council and the meeting place of St Albans Rural District Council until 1966 [3]. It was later converted to accommodate the St Albans Museum, which reopened in the town hall in June 2018[3]. The Town Hall is a Grade II* listed building and continues to be an important historical and cultural site in St Albans .

At the St Albans gig, the police raided the tour bus and turned up nearly so unreturned room keys and some pillows from the hotel in Newcastle. 'They were going to charge everyone in the band and crew individually with nicking a pillow and a key,' recalls Topper. tut we had a conflab and decided that Joe would take responsibility for the pillows and me the keys.' Topper and Joe would have to attend court in Newcastle at a later date.
