An original seventies poster for a benefit concert held at That Tea Room, Notting Hill on the 2nd April 1976. Tymon Dogg and the 101ers played at the event. Joe Strummer formed the 101ers with his room mates, the group was named after the address of their squat at 101 Walterton Road, Maida Vale. Joe was the lead singer and guitarist of the 101ers and would go on to leave the group to join The Clash. The poster measures 52cm x 78.5cm (20.5 inches x 30.9 inches). The condition is very good. "I was taking over as Social Sec in early 1976 and we had the 101ers booked by my predecessors.
I was definitely in the hot seat by the time of the gig and talked to Joe
Strummer as he arrived - who was a bit disparaging about the venue. (can't have helped that it was on the first floor) - but he was good - and had charisma all right. Unfortunately I don't have any record of the true date or what we paid them, or who the agent was etc.

This was at Stockwell College of Education in Bromley - so I reckon it was what you've listed as "Bromley College" on 28th May 1976" Allen Whitnell
