Alumni Arena, State University of New York at Buffalo, Amherst NY
Alumni Arena is part of the State University of New York at Buffalo’s recreation and athletic complex, is located on the north campus of the university in suburban Amherst, New York. The State University of New York (SUNY) at Buffalo, also known as the University at Buffalo, is one of the largest comprehensive systems of universities, colleges, and community colleges in the United States 4.
Alumni Arena is a multi-purpose arena located on the university's North Campus in Amherst, New York. Built in 1982, the facility is part of a vast and sprawling campus which, incredibly, is almost perfectly designed for car travel – and that’s within the campus itself. An extensive renovation was performed in 2012, adding new chairback seating to reduce capacity to 6100, as well as additions of new lighting, video scoreboard, improved training facilities and a renovated concourse.
Tickets for the show were priced at $9 for students and $11 for non-students 1.
Original setlist
Karl: I attended the April 28 1984 Clash show in Buffalo NY. It was at State University of New York at Buffalo, in the Alumni Arena on campus.
Somewhere around here I have a setlist that I wrote down from memory that night, as well as a newspaper ad for the show, possibly my ticket stub, and a review in the university paper with a photograph.
Just checking to see if you can use this sort of info on your site (which is excellent by the way). If so, ill start digging it up to scan for you. Thanks.
One of the best shows I’ve ever been to!
Joseph Chauby My 16th birthday! You took me to see The Clash, we were in the front row. One of the best shows I’ve ever been to!

Rare photos of the Clash’s final North American tour uncovered at the University at Buffalo
Now, archivists have uncovered rare photos from one of those shows.
The images show Strummer and Simonon, as well as Pete Howard (drums), Nick Sheppard (guitar) and Vince White (guitar) as they perform at the University at Buffalo’s Alumni Arena on April 28, 1984.
Tickets to that show, according to a flier, were $9 for students and $11 for non-students. Adjusted for inflation, that would be $20.64 and $25.22, respectively, today.
The Clash photos, taken by David S. Ottavio, are part of UB Libraries’ latest exhibit, Prominent Visitors, which examines some of the most influential people (Muhammad Ali, Allen Ginsberg, Robert F. Kennedy and others) to visit UB in the past 50 years.

BUFFALO, N.Y. – By the end of 1983, the Clash had lost two key members: drummer Nicky “Topper” Headon and guitarist/singer Mick Jones.
Nevertheless, founding members Joe Strummer and Paul Simonon added three musicians and hit the road the following year for what would be the seminal punk band’s final North American tour.

This cool cat was always photogenic... here he is from the cover of The Spectrum (UB student mag) from the famous Clash/ Who show at Rich Stadium, Sept 26, 1982 (with David Johansen).
Second pic is an appearance by revised lineup Clash at UB's Alumni Arena, April 28 1984. The next day was the legendary Stevie Ray Vaughan show next door at Baird Point!
