Out of Control Tour '84
updated 2 Sept 2016 with better audio information
bit noisy - Sound 3 - 53min - unknown gen - 18 tracks
Clampdown
..trades wrongly as Ketchner Auditorium or correctly spelt, Kitchener Auditorium in the city that is beside/connected to Waterloo.
Sound quality
This source (2) is better than much poorer versions.
However it cuts out the new tracks Are You Ready for War, probably Three Card Trick, Ammunition but leaves in This is England and Sex Mad War. It probably misses the encores.
The recording opens with London calling just started. Are Your Ready for War is announced but fades out. Clampdown kicks in. Guns of Brixton ends, Complete Control cuts in, as does the opening of Broadway.
A average, or slightly below, sounding recording. Some slight noise and a powerful but distant sound. There is no amplification though the echo blurs the sound a little. This has also been edited. All the Cut the Crap songs omited except Sex Mad War.

Tickets
Physical Activities Complex (PAC), University of Waterloo, Ontario
The PAC was particularly notable in the 1960s and 1970s for its vibrant basketball support, being described as the place to be with some of the best support in the country 2, 3.
Over the years, the PAC has undergone several renovations to modernize and improve its facilities.
The Clash's performance on May 4, 1984, was part of their "Out Of Control Tour" and is mentioned as a high point when the University of Waterloo's Federation Hall (Fed Hall) opened in 1985, underscoring the importance of live music in the campus culture 8.
It was loud
Looking at the itinerary, they must have been tired. Ottawa, where they played the night before, is an 8 hour drive on a good day. It was loud...
"5,000 people, it was packed and very loud"
I attended the May 4, 1984 show that the Clash put on at the University of Waterloo (Ontario). It was my 21st birthday. The PAC stands for Physical Activity Complex (not Physical Auditorium Complex). The university’s gymnasium. It’s pretty big for a gym - it seats roughly 5,000 people and the floor was packed.
Second, I would like to point you to a review of the show in our student newspaper. See University Magazine online (pg9) / or more quickly this jpg As you can see from the review on page 9, the concert was definitely loud. Apparently, a measurement from 2/3rds of the way into the crowd on the floor showed a decibel level of 114. The pain threshold is 120. It was a night to remember. Gary Belleville
