Montreal Forum
The Montreal Forum, located in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, has a rich history of hosting concerts for a wide range of genres. The venue has been graced by numerous renowned artists and bands over the years. Some of the notable performances include Bob Marley and the Wailers in 1978, The Bee Gees in 1979, and Bruce Springsteen in 1984 2, 5. The Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, and Pink Floyd are among the other legendary bands that have performed at the Montreal Forum 4, 10.
The Montreal Forum was a major rock venue from the Beatles' show in 1964 to the opening of the Olympic Stadium in 1976 11. The venue has also hosted concerts by other popular music artists and bands such as Frank Sinatra in 1944, and jazz artists like Peterson and Ellington 11.
The last concert at the Montreal Forum was held on March 13, 1992, featuring the band Dire Straits 7. However, the Montreal Forum continues to host concerts and events, with upcoming concerts scheduled for 2024-2025 3.
The Montreal Forum underwent two major renovations, the first in 1949 and the second in 1968 1, 6. These renovations were significant in updating and expanding the venue to accommodate more spectators and improve the overall experience. The 1968 renovation was particularly extensive, involving the removal of support columns that had previously obstructed the view for some spectators, which was a major improvement for the venue 6. The Montreal Forum has a capacity of 17,959 for ice hockey and 18,575 for basketball 2. The building was declared a National Historic Site of Canada in 1997, not only for its significance as a sporting venue but also for its role in hosting major indoor cultural, political, and religious events 2.

Stole a police cap and gave it to Joe
I still have mixed feelings about the May 2, 1984 Montreal Clash gig.
Joe had this white suit and Paul wore camouflage trousers. The other guys ? Can't remember, except they looked punk. Pete messed up at least three times, which got Joe very irritated. Maybe it was just a bad day...
It was an all-seated floor, but when Joe told the crowd to get up and dance, it was a rush to the stage that made the Forum bouncers very scared ! The cops were called in and one punter stole a police cap and gave it to Joe, it was hilarious !
As for the setlist ? I remember they played In the Pouring Rain and Sex Mad Roar, among others. BtT
Forget about the seats
Dominique Ritchot La critique du spectacle, La Presse 3 mai 1984. Moi aussi, j'y étais. The Wize Guys was the opening band. Pete Howard messed up twice during the show, people got beaten up trying to start a moshpit (Forum was a seated only venue back then). AND, this was the only time we got to hear In the Pouring Rain live.

Dominicque also shared the above music paper cutting & had this to say about the gig

i remember having a clash with the bouncers.
Robin Tate yeah i was in the front row and i remember having a clash with the bouncers.
Rodolphe Fortier Joe fought the law, but the bouncers won. The Mtl Forum remained a seated venue until the January 3, 1995 Nine Inch Nail gig.
it was f*cking AMAZING!
Doug Bentley The 16 year old me thought it was f*cking AMAZING! Saw Joe a few months before he died as well. At the Spectrum perhaps?
