Are You Ready for War?

Sound quality

Link to Satch's

A good recording spoilt by some slight distortion and too much bottom end. Still very enjoyable.

The boot LP, Bring the House Down, has a better sound though a bit thin and may come froma different source. Joe announces "Should I Stay or Will I Go"

The LP is edited down to 13 tracks

The gig was brilliant

Please find attached The Original Concert Poster, the ticket and a Newspaper Ad from the Clash Gig in Dusseldorf 84.

The gig was brilliant. Supported by german Clash-afficionados "Plan B" from Hamburg the gig started with power and energy. After the introduction by Kosmo Vinyl they entered the huge stage that was framed by TV-screens. It was like the boys were let loose after 3 years in captivity. For us in Germany it was not clear who the new boys were, we only new (no internet, no international press) that Mick Jones was sacked. So Strummer announced Paul as "Joe Strummer" and himself as "Mick Jones". They played a fantastic set, only "Should I Stay..." was horrible due to Nick's poor voice. We went out with the best hopes for the future, especially we hoped for a brilliant new LP. But....

I met Joe and Nick a couple of months later in Munich, when they told me they're just recording the new LP. I asked Joe , what's the title of the new record, and he answered. "Just what you expect" with a slightly depressed voice. They both seemed to be disappointed. After the record came out I knew why...

Great site, by the way. Keep on the good work, the fans need it and the band deserves it! Gerald

brilliant gig

Ramon Luis Pazo

I was there on that night, it was a brilliant gig, no shit at all! the crowd barked for "Mick Jones", and Joe snapped the micro to reply:"I AM Mick Jones!"...the set was amazing, the place was packed & the pogo epidemy was a bit like surfing on other people's shoulders...the tracks from "Cut The Crap" were absolutely electrifyin

Paul Neumann

I was there too and I share your memories and thoughts. The whole band played very powerful and Joe was full of energy

Ramon Luis Pazo

exactly, Paul! they almost didn't take a breath, THe CLash played Düsseldorf before, so they surely knew what kinda powerful energy the local audience expected from them

I was one of the guys who were shouting for Mick Jones

Christoph Hobein

I was one of the guys who were shouting for Mick Jones .. I saw The Clash 8 times before that show. These shows were awesome, great, the best in my life .. The Clash without Topper and Mick wasn't the same anymore .. I left with tears in my eyes. I knew the band was more or less over ..

Fantastic

Mario Irrek

Fantastic evening. For me as a fan of the classic formation, it was sad. Left earlier crying, as I realized that my all-time favorite band was over. The Clash without Mick Jones was for me like The Stones without Keith Richards or The Beatles without Macca .. sorry!

I still love the then new songs!

Gerald Manns Saw this lineup in Dusseldorf 84. It was brilliant! And I still love the then new songs! The band were amazing! I even got three tickets from my mates who didn‘t want to keep theirs.

The Clash live in Düsseldorf 1984. I can still remember very well when, after the third song, I sat down with a few cups of beer and enjoyed this fantastic concert by myself.
