Video - Jamaica 11/27/82.
The event was broadcast live on TV on the island. People remember specifically Joe dancing on top of the PA during Police On My Back. Doubtful very many islanders had VCR's in '82 or that the TV station had top-notch archival facilities, so this could be lost. Possible or even likely that that ultra-crisp soundboard came from the video.
The New Music in Canada filmed this. Years ago this footage ("Police On My Back") was part of a Clash spotlight on Much Music.
BTW, Joe's "dance" on top of the PA is no more than him running on top of a speaker for half a second near the end of the song - very cool, but not as fun as it sounds. There is also footage of Joe in the crowd grooving to Black Uhuru, if I remember correctly. Someone needs to do a serious raid of the Much Music vaults for this stuff!

From London to Jamaica boot CD has a top quality sound. Definatley one to acquire not just for its quality but the unusual track list which reflected the Clash's appearance in the Caribean.
4 tracks also appear on the LP Death or Glory - Junco Partner/Spanish Bombs/Bankrobber/Radio Clash.
This has a better sound than the other boot Jamaica Affiar CD but that has I Fought the Law which is shamefully missing on From London to Jamaica.
Jamaican Affair CD is a very good recording but for a pro sound, a bit flat. The bass is really clear as are the drums and vocals and it has a good mix.

The Clash did not go on stage until dawn broke
The Clash did not go on stage until dawn broke. This event was for the Jamaican World Music Festival as the MC informs a tired audience.
Mary Woods - 2017 - I was right down front. Fantastic show though you tell they were fighting and unhappy. They were the only band that refused to be filmed. There was supposed to be a big concert film but it never was produced. There must be hours and hours of live footage of all the performers sitting in a vault somewhere. But not The Clash. Was surprised to find all the audios on bootleg CDs a few years ago.

The Sun was just starting to come up when the Clash finished their set.
Yeah, that's about right. Each night the music didn't start until 7:00 p.m. 6-7 bands each night. So the last band wouldn't come on until 5 a.m., or so, at the earliest.
At the time the "Bob Marley Memorial Performing Arts Centre" was no more than a very large rectangular piece of gravel covered ground with a big stage at one end. People were selling little bamboo mats you could sit/rest/sleep on. They were very popular. People would sleep through the bands they didn't want to see while waiting for someone else to come on.
I slept through Skeeter Davis and Stacy Lattisaw's acts but stayed awake through everything else. Which wasn't always easy considering all the spliffs floating around.
