Autumn 1985 European Tour - Cancelled
Presumedly organised by Bernie, but Joe lost himself in Spain and out of Bernies reach....

Ad and article, why Clash cancelled the Swedish dates in 1985
Here's the ad and an article why Clash cancelled the Swedish tour 1985. They were booked to play Scandinavium Gothenburg 3rd Oct, Isstadion Stockholm 4 Oct and Olympen Lund on the 5th Oct. According to the article the gigs were cancelled due to Mick & Topper claimed they had rights to the name The Clash so if Joe & Paul played these gigs they had to share the money the made on these gigs with Mick & Topper!
All the best! Lars

Cancelled Tour Notice - Nya Dagens Nyheter, 1985
Clash won't come - name dispute halts European tour
By MÅNS IVARSSON
The Clash won't be coming.
The reason is a dispute over who owns the rights to the band's name.
The English punk band has been forced to cancel its entire European tour - including three planned performances in Sweden early next month.
Only half of the group's original line-up remains in today's Clash: singer Joe Strummer and bassist Paul Simonon.
Two years ago, they fired guitarist Mick Jones. Now, Jones has joined forces with the band's former drummer Topper Headon, and they've contacted a lawyer. They claim to have just as much right to the name The Clash as Strummer and Simonon.
Fees at Risk "They've been working all weekend in England to try to resolve the conflict," says Thomas Johansson at EMA-Telstar, the Swedish promoter. "If Strummer and his band tour under the name Clash, there's a risk that Jones and Headon could block them from collecting their fees."
The band has performed under the Clash name in its current line-up on two prior occasions: a short tour last year, and at this summer's Roskilde Festival.
"It's only now that the former members have followed through on their threat and gone to a lawyer," says Johansson.

Single to Be Stopped? Plans were in place for The Clash to release their first LP in three years at the beginning of October. As a preview, the single "This Is England" was scheduled for release within the next week. CBS, the band's label, now doesn't know whether the releases can go ahead.
Record Review - Expressen (by Jan Gradvall)
On the cover, three faces glare back - suspiciously thirty-something. Are they the kids' parents?
-----
The Clash - "This Is England" (CBS) An anticlimax after such a long wait. Standardised singalong for the football terraces - but I like Strummer's line about "everyone has a biker jacket but no one owns a bike."

Scandinavium, Gothenburg - 3 Oct -
Isstadion, Stockholm - 4 Oct -
Olympen, Lund - 5 Oct
