Audience recording is quite good, better than Video sound. DVD good but all the shots are close ups only.

57 minutes. The whole band seemed really up for this and laughed the whole way through amongst themselves, probably more so than any other meskies gig I have seen. One interuption came with the soundcheck on the next stage during I'chen when the drum kit was bashed interfereing with the meskies sound during Ishen.

Did you go? What do you remember?

I was at the Hootenanny Fest. Show in San Diego 7/02- which became Joe’s last US appearance.  They came on towards the end of the day- it was very hot and bright out.  I think Joe mentions how hot it is during the set.  Before hand Tymon Dogg was walking around checking out the scene- wore a cool all white suit.  I remember the material off Global A Go Go sounding very good- but of course the biggest reaction was when they played Clash tunes and Joe was really into it as well (although I understand he was fighting a cold).  At one point in the show Joe says something about “… lets get loud so they can hear us across the river over there” and he pointed to the San Diego Bay, which was pretty funny.  I do remember all the band members getting pissed when Rev. Horton Heat’s Band started checking the drum sound on the stage next door.  When Joe and the Mescalero’s stopped playing most of the crowd left, leaving only a handful to see the good Reverend Horton.
