House of the Blues is in fact an artificial plastic venue in the basement of the recently built luxurious hotel Mandaley Bay next to the McCarron airport. The gaming floor, all decked out with plush carpet and air conditioning. The weeks tempratures had been 119 -123 degrees outside.

This was a warm up for the upcoming Hootananny Tour which had been badly booked. Original confusion had led to believe that San Diego [only a few hours away] was first so the LA gig was booked, then to go on the following afternoons gig in SD.

However, dates got reversed and the band had to take a long trek north to San Francisco straight after and then return back south to Orange County. A 10 hour drive by coach.

No cameras, no video, several body searches. It was all a bit eerie. House of the Blues, all plastic trees and alcoves is a great little theatre, right up close. A great set, great atmosphere which was rounded off with drinks with the band in the piano bar in the middle of the gaming floor till late.
